About Us

The Yoga Center of Lawrence is located at 920 Massachusetts Street, Suite 4, in historic downtown Lawrence, on the east side of the street, upstairs between The Roost restaurant and Jimmy John's sandwich shop. Enter either from Massachusetts Street or from the alley off the New Hampshire Street parking garage. There is metered parking on Massachusetts and free two-hour parking in the parking garage.

The Yoga Center of Lawrence is dedicated to providing the community of Lawrence, Kansas, with quality yoga instruction, in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar.

The Yoga Center was founded in 1999 by Jill Krebs and Margaret Carr. Margaret moved to West Virginia in 2008, and Jill served as director of the studio with the help of her husband, Jack. In June of 2016,  Anne Underwood took over as owner/director.

The Yoga Center of Lawrence is located on the second floor of an historic building in downtown Lawrence. The studio integrates light hardwood floors with a combination of brick and wood-paneled walls in an open two-story, sun-filled space.

Our studio is fully equipped with props, including sticky mats; soft cotton blankets from India and Mexico; wood and foam blocks and wedges of many sizes and shapes; benches and back-bending supports; an Iyengar-designed trestler; and two walls with built-in ropes. Yoga books and props are also available for sale.
