Asana is perfect firmness of body, steadiness of mind,
benevolence of spirit.

The physical studio location is closed until further notice.

As soon as we are notified that we can reopen, we will!

Online classes

We very much appreciate your patience as we work through this new way of providing yoga class. The Yoga Center's expenses continue through the emergency. Your participation in our classes will assure that we have our studio to come back to when things turn around.

We are delivering live classes on Zoom. If you are already used to Zoom meetings, that’s great. If you are new to Zoom, you can contact any teacher from the staff page.

How it works

  • We will be keeping pretty much to the existing schedule. So, for example, Anne will teach her online classes on Monday and Wednesday at 4:00 and 5:45, etc.

  • You MUST sign up online on Mindbody ahead of time by at least half an hour, unlike in-person classes. Then you will receive an email from your teacher with the meeting link and details. You can also click the link on the upper right side of this page that takes you to Mindbody.

  • You do NOT need to create a new account if you are a current student. You may need to make a new password. Easy-peasy. At the bottom of the login box you'll see a link that says "Need a new password?" Follow the instructions to get a new password link sent to your email address.

  • Once you are logged in, go to the Classes tab and choose your class. If you have an existing pass, the system will apply it. Otherwise, it will prompt you to pay for the class with various choices for passes and payments.

  • Your teacher will then email you the link to the Zoom class.

How to plan ahead for class

  • Use a laptop, tablet, or phone. A laptop has the biggest screen and can be positioned most easily.

  • You do NOT need a Zoom account to log in.

  • If you already have the Zoom app on your laptop, tablet, or phone, the link in the email should open the app for you.

  • If you don't already have the app, download it from zoom.us BEFORE the beginning of the class.

  • Have your mat and props ready, with your device facing you so that your teacher can see you.

  • Be sitting on your mat when the class starts.

Coronavirus prevention and the Yoga Center

At the Studio

We are committed to keeping our classes and our studio safe and healthy.

During this time the teachers are all fully aware of the need for social distancing and will teach their classes with that in mind.

As always, the studio receives a thorough cleaning twice a week. We also have mat disinfectant spray and hand sanitizer at the desk.

Teachers are also alert to wiping down as many surfaces as we can.

Further precautions we can all take:

  • Wash your hands before and after class. We're not going to tell you how to do this - instructions are everywhere.

  • Bring your own mat.  Our mats and blankets are in a constant washing rotation, but if you bring your own mat you won't have to wonder who used it last.

  • Spread out. The current thinking at the CDC says that the virus is spread between people who are in close contact with one another within about 6 feet. We might not have that much room, but be aware of distance.

  • Wipe things down. Use the disinfectant spray on blocks and chair rails.

  • Tell your teacher if you would prefer not to be touched.

On your own

Even if you can't make it to class, practice at home. Yoga generally will help keep your immune system in good shape and keep you well. Here's a link to the morning and evening asana sequences developed by B.K.S. Iyengar to boost the immune system.

More things to do:

  • Get enough sleep.

  • Go outside in the sunshine for a good blast of Vitamin D.

  • Eat citrus fruit to keep your Vitamin C levels up, zinc and elderberry for further immune system health.

  • Wash your hands and keep them off your face.

Open Practice

On Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and some Sunday mornings, and Thursday evenings the studio is available for Open Practice. Check the schedule, because the times may vary, depending on availability of teachers. Cost is $6 per practice (10-practice passes are also available for $60).

How it works

  • This is not a class! You may arrive or leave at any time during the open period.

  • Come prepared to work on your own practice.

  • No idea how to start your own practice? We have plenty of books and other resources available.

  • The teacher will be working on his/her own practice and available to answer questions or offer suggestions.

  • If you need help deciding on that day's practice, we suggest that you arrive at the beginning of the session.

  • You must be concurrently taking another YCL class.

This is a great yoga studio! I’ve taken classes with three teachers at the Yoga Center, and they are all top-notch: patient, well-trained teachers and highly knowledgeable.

This is an Iyengar yoga studio, so the focus is on learning to do yoga poses correctly to get the maximum therapeutic benefit and avoid injury. You will get a depth of understanding that will help you be a better yogi, regardless of what kind of yoga you practice later on, or where, for the rest of your life.

It doesn’t matter if you can’t get your knees to go down very far, or you can’t straighten your leg, or you have sciatica or a slipped disk or knee problems...whatever...there is a way for every student to get the maximum benefit from every pose, and the teachers at this yoga studio will help you get there so you are successful.
