This is a great yoga studio! I’ve taken classes with three teachers at the Yoga Center, and they are all top-notch: patient, well-trained teachers and highly knowledgeable.
This is an Iyengar yoga studio, so the focus is on learning to do yoga poses correctly to get the maximum therapeutic benefit and avoid injury. You will get a depth of understanding that will help you be a better yogi, regardless of what kind of yoga you practice later on, or where, for the rest of your life.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t get your knees to go down very far, or you can’t straighten your leg, or you have sciatica or a slipped disk or knee problems...whatever...there is a way for every student to get the maximum benefit from every pose, and the teachers at this yoga studio will help you get there so you are successful.
I discovered yoga after going through physical therapy. The Yoga Center of Lawrence is great, but what really sets YCL apart are the highly skilled and trained instructors who make sure I'm doing poses correctly so as to build strength and flexibility, without risking injury. I still play a number of recreational sports to stay active, and thanks to yoga and YCL, I have fewer injuries now than in my 20s.
