This place has been a centerpiece of the Lawrence yoga scene for years. The instruction is very high quality. The teachers have years of training. Anne, the owner, is one of the coolest people, too. If you're looking for a yoga studio in Lawrence, look no further!
beautiful studio
This is a beautiful studio with excellent teachers. I always leave class much more serene than when I came in.
Parking is great in this downtown location-2 hours free in the parking garage behind the studio.
The best teachers
I started yoga 5 years ago and really like it. I now can touch my toes without bending my knees, have better posture, and improved overall mobility. Wish I’d started earlier, but it is never too late. I am 82 now and plan to continue as long as possible. Lawrence Yoga Center has the best teachers, and are quite patient with those of us who are “mature” students. :)
Glad I can still hang in there, Stan Rolfe
great yoga studio!
This is a great yoga studio! I’ve taken classes with three teachers at the Yoga Center, and they are all top-notch: patient, well-trained teachers and highly knowledgeable.
This is an Iyengar yoga studio, so the focus is on learning to do yoga poses correctly to get the maximum therapeutic benefit and avoid injury. You will get a depth of understanding that will help you be a better yogi, regardless of what kind of yoga you practice later on, or where, for the rest of your life.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t get your knees to go down very far, or you can’t straighten your leg, or you have sciatica or a slipped disk or knee problems...whatever...there is a way for every student to get the maximum benefit from every pose, and the teachers at this yoga studio will help you get there so you are successful.
highly skilled and trained instructors
I discovered yoga after going through physical therapy. The Yoga Center of Lawrence is great, but what really sets YCL apart are the highly skilled and trained instructors who make sure I'm doing poses correctly so as to build strength and flexibility, without risking injury. I still play a number of recreational sports to stay active, and thanks to yoga and YCL, I have fewer injuries now than in my 20s.
